NEW!! from Physicians Formula- Spotlight Illuminating Primer & Healthy Foundation

NEW Product Alert!! Putting the Physicians Formula Primer and Healthy Foundation to the Test

Welcome to February. Ugh. Around here where I live that means super cold weather and lots of snow and as a woman with dry skin this does not bode well for my beauty routine. This is why, come this time of year, I am always on the lookout for anything that will illuminate and brighten my dull, winter skin. So when I heard about the new products launching from Physicians Formula I began my hunt to track them down and try them for myself. Everyone, and I mean everyone, in the beauty community has gone bananas over this new foundation so I was really curious to see how it worked for me. I finally managed to track down both the foundation and their new illuminating primer, much to my surprise since here in Canada we seem to get everything late. Why do they always make us Canadian beauties wait??!!

So first off, just a little about the brand before I get into my full review. Physicians Formula is considered a drugstore brand but it is on the high end so just a heads up if you're on a budget. I have some ride or die products from Physicians Formula so despite the bigger price tag they are a company worth checking out because some of their products are out of this world (as a side note- if you haven't already, check out their butter bronzers. they are hands down my favorite bronzer formula and well worth every penny). They are also known for putting out a lot of organic and healthy for your skin type products, these included, so another big bonus. I find myself gravitating more and more to their products the older I get because hello mama's skin is not like it once was! lol That's why the foundation in particular really appealed to me because it has ingredients that are super good for your skin.

Ok so now on to my actual thoughts and whether I think these products live up to the hype that they've been getting.

First off, the primer....

Spotlight Illuminating Primer
(PF 10563 Glow)
$14.95

  • blurs and corrects
  • infused with 5 filtering luminescent pearls
  • contains antioxidants
  • protects the skin
  • reduces redness

Where to start with this primer. One word- stunning. It feels so lightweight on the skin yet delivers such a big punch in that it makes your skin so dewey and just look luscious. As someone with dry skin, this primer has changed the game for me. It's the first drugstore primer that was this illuminating without looking glittery or over the top. This is a must have for anyone with dull and dry skin or really anyone who loves that dewey look. A major Aplus!

The Healthy Foundation
$14.95

  • contains a brightening complex
  • good for all skin types
  • contains vitamins and antioxidants
  • brightens, hydrates and evens skin tone
  • hypoallergenic
  • contains no perfume, parabens and is gluten free
  • vegan (yay!!)
A foundation that is actually good for your skin?! Umm yes please!! After trying out this foundation only once I immediately saw what all the hype was about. It basically looks like your skin, only better. Healthier. Just like the name implies. It's very lightweight so it's very easy to build up if you want more coverage but I will say that it's not a full coverage foundation. I did need to reapply to cover redness and blemishes but on the plus side it never got cakey. I actually got compliments on my skin when I wore this foundation so that's the only confirmation I need that this is a winner. A great everyday foundation and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it come the summer months. Really beautiful foundation that is well worth the price tag if you like a natural finish. If you're a girl who likes a full coverage foundation then maybe pass on this one. On a side note- I usually apply my foundation with a beauty blender but for some reason this one applies way more evenly, especially over my dry patches, if I use a brush so that's my little tip for you if you have dry skin like myself. But all in all, this one definitely passes the test!
