First Impression- Urban Decay Gwen lipstick

First Impression- Urban Decay's Gwen lipstick line

As you probably already know, I am a lipstick junkie. I can never have too many! I normally go for affordable drugstore brands because the thought of paying $20 plus for a lipstick almost pains me but sometimes I will make the exception and give some higher end products a try. And I will say, I am always curious as to whether the formula is that much better than the drugstore brands.

When I heard that Gwen Stefani was coming out with a line in conjunction with Urban Decay I got very excited. I was a big No Doubt fan and I just adore her style so I knew I had to get something from this line. I ended up getting the eyeshadow palette (which I'll be reviewing in my next post) as well as one of the lipsticks. I only got one because I wanted to try out the formula to see if it was worth the money.

First off a little bit about the lipstick line itself. It includes 8 shades, 2 of those are only exclusively available online. (side note- last time I went to Sephora I didn't see all of the Gwen line still available so you might be better of buying online if you want to get anything). Most of the lipsticks come in a cream finish but there are also two sheer shades as well as one mega matte shade. No surprise that the color range is pretty bold and contains a few red shades, seeing as those are colors that Gwen wears herself. If you want a more wearable, subtle shade I would recommend the sheer shades since they are more natural.

I purchased one of the red shades, called Spiderweb which is  a cream shade. It feels very lightweight and comfortable on the lips and is very pigmented. I really like how the formula isn't drying at all and doesn't feather the way some reds tend to do. It also is pretty long lasting, it lasted a good 4-6 hours on my lips. Overall I am quite impressed with the formula and can we all agree that the packaging is on point! Very sleek and looks very high end and chique. If you love lipstick and love Gwen I highly recommend you try these out. They do not disappoint!
