Hot or Not? Hard Candy Metallic Mousse Lip Colors

Hard Candy Metallic Mousse Lip Colors

I have a lipstick obsession. No way to deny it. If I see a new lip product come out guaranteed I'll run to go try it out. Even more so when it comes to liquid lipsticks. So many brands now are taking a stab at liquid lipsticks which is great if you love them like I do. Even better when they're drugstore brands, like Hard Candy. Hard Candy has already come out with their liquid lipstick version with their Velvet Mousse lip colors, which I dedicated a whole blog post to. This new addition is their take on the new lip trend- metallic lips.

If you're a beauty lover, if you check out Instagram at all then I'm sure you've seen he metallic lip trend that seems to be popping up a lot. Now granted, its not for everyone but it is a fun look if you're a lipstick lover like I am. The nice thing about this line from Hard Candy is that they're a lot more wearable then some other metallic lips I have seen. None of the colors in the line are too out there so great for someone who is curious about the trend.

Like their Velvet Mousse lippies, these too are a matte liquid lip and have a mousy consistency. There are 7 shades available (I have 5 so I'll be swatching the ones I have). Hard Candy is exclusively available at Walmart and these lippies retail for $6.00.

  • Penny Talk

If you've tried the Velvet Mousse lip colors then you'll be familiar with the mousy texture of these liquid lipsticks. It makes it very comfortable on the lips, very lightweight However keep in mind that they are not completely transfer proof and are somewhat tacky on the lips when first applied. The colors are very pretty, not too crazy and intense as I previously mentioned.  They are all metallic without being too crazy so a lot more wearable then the other options that are out there. That being said, I have very mixed feelings about these. Yes, the colors are pretty. Yes, I love the look. It's very different then your average lipstick. However, and this is a big however, the formula is really difficult to work with. It's very thick, not as mousy as the Velvets which makes it very hard to apply. And if you're someone like me who has texture on your lips, you will get very frustrated when applying these. They don't apply evenly and take some time to build up to the desired opacity. Once applied they do look cool but the formula really needs improvement.

Overall, great try Hard Candy but sadly these missed the mark.

Verdict:  FAIL (sorry, I wanted to love you so much)
