My Top 5 Winter Beauty Must Haves
Top 5 Winter Beauty Must Haves
Winters here in Canada can be pretty brutal and seem to last forever. Cold weather, high winds can really take a toll on your skin. I have normal to dry skin but in the winter my skin is full on dry where I get dry patches on my face as well as dry, cracked hands. Skincare is always a big focus of mine, especially as I age but I really amp up my skincare routine come the wintertime. I think most people can relate to some level of dryness during the winter months so I hope you guys benefit from this post if you have these issues.
Basically my main goals when dealing with skincare during the winter months involves bringing hydration and moisture to my skin. All of these products that I'll mention do just that so they have become my life savers during these last few months.
Now as much as I am all about affordable, drugstore products I do have to say that I think when it comes to skincare it pays to spend a little more so you know the quality of ingredients will really have an impact on your skin. That being said, of course you can find great products with quality ingredients at a budget. I personally love the skincare line from Live Clean, which can be found at the drugstore or Walmart. That's my go to brand when I want to shop quickly and I know the products will be good. But when I really want to invest in my skincare and make sure I get specific products for specific issues I rely on Lush. They have products for any skin issue, all of their products are gentle on the skin and of course all made from natural ingredients. I adore the service when you walk into a Lush store because you can tell them what your specific needs are and they will find the right products for you. Definitely a must for me, especially when my skin has more issues like it tends to have during the winter months.
Now on to the products that I've chosen as my top picks that I have not been able to live without this past winter. These are all used by me every day and I swear by them. All well worth the money.
1. Lush Salted Coconut hand scrub
$16.95- $29.95
My hands get super dry in the winter and ever since discovering this product it has quickly become a necessity for me. It's made with cupacu butter, argan and extra virgin coconut oil so it's extremely hydrating. It also brightens the skin, making your hands look youthful for all of you ladies like me who are not spring chickens anymore. It also contains fine sea salt, to exfoliate, as well as a lemon infusion which softens. After I use this scrub my hands are so soft it's crazy. Makes you feel pampered, which hey don't we all want?
2. Josie Maran Argan Infinity intensive creamy oil
$28.00
Argan oil or any sort of oil is a necessity for anyone suffering with dry skin. I adore all Josie Maran products, they're all super lightweight and make your skin glow. This product is a favorite because it has so many different uses that you really get your money's worth. It's basically an all in one product. It can be used to soothe rough and dry skin, to illuminate the skin and give your a very natural glow. I even use it on my lips when they get dry and cracked. It's infused with shea butter, aloe vera, mango seed butter and macadamia seed oil which of course makes it highligly moisturizing. The textrure does melt into an oil so it's very easy to blend into your skin and absorbs perfectly without leaving that greasy type residue that some oils can leave. All in all, an amazing product.
3. Josie Maran Whipped Mud Masks argan hydrating detoxifying treatment
(Lavender Citrus)
(Cucumber Aloe)
$48.00
Another necessity of mine are masks, specifically mud masks. They really save my skin and provide the hydration that I need and these are hands down the best I have ever tried. These are meant to clarify, refine and firm the skin while it nourishes. And the Moroccan clay is meant to detoxify and tone. Basically these masks do it all! They are super gentle on the skin and leav your skin feeling refreshed and renewed. Time to pamper yourself and give these a go. Your skin will thank you.
4. First Aid Beauty ultra repair hydra-firm sleeping cream/lip therapy
$15.00
I think we're all familiar with dry, chapped lips during the winter months. One seems to go hand in hand with the other. And I know, you can buy a cheap lip balm for a couple of bucks. But this lip balm is a game changer so in my opinion it is worth every penny. It really hydrates and nourishes your lips and even when my lips are super cracked I will use this and the next day my lips are smooth. I cannot survive the winter without this little guy.
5. EOS lip balm
(Blueberry Nectar)
$4.33
This lip balm is my favorite among the affordable ones. You have so many options to choose from but this one has to be my favorite. I will say that it's funny but some flavors don't work as well as others, so just a heads up. But this little guys are great, 99% natural and are made with shea butter as well as vitamins C & E. And of course, we all know and love the cute little packaging.
(side note- EOS itself does not test on animals but they do sell to China where testing is required by law so a heads up if that is a deal breaker for you)
