Is It a Dupe? Wet n Wild Rose In The Air VS ABH Modern Renaissance
Comparing Wet n Wild & Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Palettes- Are they a dupe??
For ages I have been wanting to purchase an ABH palette, and honestly compared to some brands at Sephora the price point is actually not too bad, In April, and coincidentally my birthday month (so hey, in my head that means it's an excuse to treat myself to something special!), Sephora had their VIB sale. Sales at Sephora only happen twice a year so believe me, I jump on that opportunity. That day the Modern Renaissance palette came home with me and I eagerly tested it out as quickly as I could. Honestly, all of their palettes call to me but this one really stands out to me with the berry tones that I don't really have in my collection. Other than it being really really pretty, I also wanted to test this baby out right after I bought the Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palette in Rose In The Air. I had seen online that the two palettes were pretty close to one another and so I wanted to check it out for myself. Plus, I have been a long time fan of the Wet n Wild palettes. In my opinion, they are the best drugstore palettes when it comes to high quality and pigmentation (side note- check out my all time favorite Wet n Wild palette Comfort Zone...I cannot live without it!)
So on to the actual point of this blog post and why you guys are here.....the comparison. Are these two palettes similar? Dupes? What are the differences? Do you need both or can you settle for the cheaper alternative? (quick answer- I would get both because hello one is never ever enough! kidding...well not really but I have a problem. If you are a normal person then one out of the two will fit into your collection just fine. but if you are crazy like myself...I feel ya, girl!)
Now onto the fun part. The makeup...
Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palette
Rose In The Air
$4.99
- new formula (as I previously said, the original palettes have been around for a long time but they still kick ass)
- includes 10 shades
- includes two matte transition shades
This palette, like their other palettes, does not disappoint. Great pigmentation, blends perfectly, and lasts a long time on the eyes without smudging or creasing. Hard to believe how cheap it is when you see the performance and quality. Simply stunning.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette
$42.00
- includes 14 shades
- contains neutral & berry tones
- includes 11 matte shades, 3 metallic shades
I fell in love with this palette the second I tried it. First off, it is gorgeous. But more importantly, the pigmentation is crazy yet it is so blendable and will last on your lids all night long. There is a bit of fallout, so be careful of that, and a little goes a long way (especially for the darker shades) but all in all it has quickly become an all time favorite and makes me want to try more.
So as you can see, I am in love with both palettes and would recommend both. Even looking at the swatches, you can see there are a few shades that almost seem identical so I can definitely see why how they can be dupes for one another. Obviously they are not exactly the same. The ABH palette has 4 more shades and the pigmentation is more intense than the Wet N Wild palette. But that being said, they are strikingly similar so I would definitely say that if you are on a tight budget you can easily go with the Wet n Wild palette and achieve a very similar look that you would with the ABH one.
